Nigeria's First Container Vessel Arrives in Lagos
History has been made as MV Ocean Dragon, Nigeria's first 100% indigenously-owned container vessel, arrives in Lagos. With a capacity of 349 TEU, the vessel marks a major milestone for indigenous shipping and for trade across West Africa.
The Ocean Dragon is currently crewed by a team that is roughly 70% Nigerian, with a clear goal of reaching 100% Nigerian crew as the operation matures. This commitment underscores Clarion's mission to build local capacity within the maritime sector.
Connecting West Africa
Beyond Nigeria, the vessel's service network connects key markets across the region — including Benin, Togo, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Côte d'Ivoire — strengthening intra-African trade and offering shippers a reliable, locally-owned alternative for moving cargo.
