Clarion Facilitates Strategic Nigeria–Libya Trade Engagement
Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited recently played a key coordinating role in facilitating a strategic engagement between a delegation from Libya and Nigerian trade authorities during the West African Food and Beverage (FAB) Exhibition, held from June 9 to 11, 2026 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.
The delegation, comprising representatives of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and business interests with existing and prospective investments in shipping and trade, sought engagements with key Nigerian institutions, including the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
Strengthening formal trade channels
The discussions focused on strengthening formal trade channels between Nigeria and Libya, improving supply chain efficiency, and exploring opportunities for the movement of goods across North and West Africa. The engagement also aligned with broader initiatives aimed at promoting intra-African trade and enhancing cooperation among customs administrations across the continent.
At the request of the delegation, Clarion Shipping coordinated meetings between the visiting representatives and relevant authorities, while also facilitating interactions with Nigerian businesses with commercial interests in Libya.
A platform for collaboration
The visit coincided with the West African Food and Beverage Exhibition, one of the region's largest food, beverage and hospitality trade events. Running from June 9 to 11 at the Landmark Centre, Lagos, the 2026 edition brought together more than 350 exhibitors and over 7,000 attendees, with participants drawn from 63 countries.
By bringing together public and private sector stakeholders, the engagement highlights the growing importance of collaboration in building stronger trade relationships and creating new opportunities for businesses operating across Africa.
